The Year Head has overall responsibility for a year groups educational, emotional, spiritual, psychological and moral welfare as they progress from first year to sixth year, being mindful of the specific need of each year group. The role is primarily pastoral, involving the monitoring of students’ progress, building relationships and creating a positive climate through the use of key school routines, such as restorative practice and year assemblies, enabling the students to understand and adhere to the Code of Behaviour. The Year Head is the primary point of contact and support for the year group. They liaise between student, staff and parent/guardian in order to relay important information and to discuss any issues that may arise.
